Appointments

calendar Most of our doctors’ appointments are available to book on the day by phoning the surgery after 8.30am or alternatively the practice doors are open from 8.20am for people who prefer to come to the surgery to book an appointment. Some may be pre-booked in advance. These are intended for people who would have difficulty booking on the day, such as people at work or those who need to arrange transport. These appointments typically get booked up about a week in advance. You can also book both pre-bookable and a limited number of book on the day appointments using our online booking service -  Please refer to the Online Services link for more information.

We also provide telephone consultations with a doctor or nurse where appropriate. Many problems will be satisfactorily resolved without the need to attend the surgery and see a GP face to face. Instead they can be dealt with by a telephone consultation with a GP who will offer appropriate advice and/or a prescription, saving an unnecessary visit. If clinically appropriate, an urgent same day appointment will be offered. The time saved by the doctor resolving a proportion of the problems via a telephone conversation enables more time to be spent seeing patients with more complex and serious problems.

Appointments are for 10 minutes but if you have several matters to discuss please make a double appointment. Please ask the receptionist to make the appointment with the doctor you would prefer to see. If possible please see the same doctor during the course of the same illness.

If you only have a quick question or query, you may feel that a telephone consultation with a GP or nurse would be sufficient. This can be arranged - please see the next tab above about Telephone Consultations.

Please let us know if you cannot make it to an appointment so that it can be released and made available for someone else who may need to see the doctor or nurse. If you are unable to contact us by phone to cancel your appointment, there is a facility to let us know at the bottom of the home page. Please try and give us as much notice as possible so that the appointment can be released for other patients.

We provide late evening commuter appointments on Monday and Thursday evenings. These appointments can be pre-booked in advance by telephoning the practice.
